The ambulance profession is a clinical practice of medicine. To design, deliver, and improve clinical care, operational practice, and system design requires ongoing research and peer-reviewed publication. Dr. Williams is one of the few scholar-practitioners to research the obstacles to patient-centric EMS system design. He also co-developed the first patient safety trigger tool for ground ambulance services. He is a regular peer-reviewer of journals and symposiums and recently contributed to the textbook Prehospital Research Methods and Practice.
